But every so often the mists will produce something special. Someone will emerge who isn't just from the mists, but of them and who has a natural affinity with them. Their power in regards to the mists is beyond that of the greatest master mage. Resurrecting the dead and erecting cities are not beyond them. However, they are not immortal, and if it can kill a normal person, it can potentially kill a mist born. You'd just damn well make sure that they're dead if you try, because the consequences will most assuredly be painful if you fail.
Mist born are creatures of faith. Because of this the gods sometimes take an interest in them and it is utterly impossible for a mist born to hide from their eyes. Some gods treat them like avatars, others like pawns. Some ignore them completely, but don't count on it. Faithful people can affect them simply by what they believe, and on occasion the mist born will go through changes as the belief of the people around them starts to affect them. If the mist born is in the presence of faithful people who support it, it will find itself becoming stronger. If there are faithful people against it or who are sure they can kill it or bring it down, it will start to become weaker.
They are more prone to be affected by 'fake' magic and superstition as though it were real. If someone has a ward erected on their house to keep danger out, the mist born may find it difficult to go in if they mean the occupants harm. They may find it hard to escape a circle erected to keep them held. And if a particularly faithful person sees a mist born as their dream come true, they might start to act like it. This is why some of the mist born in past legend erected cults and surrounded themselves with people who saw them as gods. With enough loyal followers with strong belief they are capable of even greater feats of power. Some have tried to topple the gods, but all of those met with rather nasty ends.
Mist born are still technically Mistlings by the fact that they were born of mist as well, and people who can distinguish human from mistling would probably mistake a mist born for the latter. Their smell may be stronger, and they may feel more like the mists, but it's not easy to instantly recognize a mist born at first sight unless they want you to.
As a final note, mist born are rare as hell. There aren't hundreds of them walking the mist. Out of the entire population of the mists there's probably a single digit number of them, which really is best for the sake of everyone considering their history. Any Mist Born or other restricted special found to be 'twinking' can and will have their restricted special taken away. It is not a license to do as thou wilt. It is a reward for fabulous role-playing, and it is expected that Mist Born will continue to play their roles very well.
